I’m not sure how many of us actually write on typewriters, but Patty McNair found this picture years ago and it’s stuck.

It all started when…

After the birth of my second daughter, I felt adrift from the writing community. I wanted to connect with more writers in Chicago to discuss the business side of our work. We have so much knowledge to share. So back in 2015 I met with Patricia McNair, Christine Sneed, and Anne Calcagno to organize regular meetings to create a collaborative gathering for women engaged in literary pursuits. We share our knowledge of writing and publishing, celebrate achievements, and encourage members onwards. Recent events have focused on submissions, residencies, time management, and how to give an excellent reading. New administrators include Rachel Swearingen, Lee Reilly, and JH Palmer. If you’re a woman or nonbinary, gender-nonconforming writer in the Chicago area, check us out on Facebook, or contact me.
